The Battle Continues at Freelin

The next weekend we were at Freelin which is...in the middle of nowhere close to anything.  Last year I froze here and had to go buy a coat at TSC, the only place within a reasonable drive to buy ANYthing.  This year it was beautiful.  Actually started out a bit chilly but was a perfect day.

They line up to start - Motocross Boy/Man is watching for that #864.

My boy takes the outside - second to the right between the W and the S.

Moving up to the front of the pack!

He doesn't get the hole shot but he's up in the front - far outside left in the red pants.  It's important to know what your kid is wearing before he heads out to race. Sometimes it's the only way to tell who is who since most of the bikes are yellow Suzuki's.

And he shoots off in to the wild blue yonder!

I think I'd pee my pants a little doing this.

In spite of being out in the middle of nowhere and the only spectators are usually the families of the people racing, this track has this huge set of bleachers.  They must have got a good deal on them from a school or something.  They are so out of place and I've never seen anyone sit on them.  Maybe I should. And bring pom poms.

Not sure what it is about this picture but I love the colors.  It's almost 3-D looking.  And the little white weed flowers at the bottom are so incongruous to the atmosphere it makes me smile.

Trying for a little trick here.  Can you see the black spots over his head?  I think those are sea gulls.

And now for a break from our sponsors.  Otherwise known as pictures of something other than dirt.

This is Motocross Boy/Man's buddy.  Equestrian Girl loves him like a brother.

This is another buddy and his mom.  Mom's play a big roll in motocross.  We have to dress our babies and send them out to participate in this crazy extreme sport. Even when they won't let us kiss them on the starting gate.

More Moto-Mom's.  The preggo one is baking her 5th kid.  Hopefully it's a girl.  The first four are boys. She's also a horse show judge so we like her.  She knows what we are talking about when we talk horse.  The other mom is Ally.  That boy Equestrian Girl loves like a brother is hers.  And she's got a little guy who races too.

I have no idea who this little princess is but I LOVED that her daddy was pushing her up the hills on the little pedal bike track and she was all decked out in pink.

Back to racing and flying through the sky.  But where is everyone?

I was serious about the middle of nowhere.  See the silo in the background?  You pass about a million acres of CARROTS on the way to this place.  I didn't know we grew carrots in Michigan.  Or at least not that many.  There's like a carrot factory there too.

THERE he is.  Mr. Competition gonna kick your son's...family channel.  Mr. Rainbow comes out of nowhere (which is where we were) and takes the lead at the finish line.

The agony of defeat.
