Beauty and the Goofball

It's hard sometimes to see how this goofy little mare who wants so much to sit in your lap like a puppy is going to become a competitive show horse in the eventing world. Especially when she does this.

But then you see her like THIS and you kinda go "Yea, she can be all that and some!"

Turtle Rescue

Equestrian Girl and I rescued a Painted a Turtle on the way home from the barn today. She was driving and spotted him in the middle of the dirt road we were on. There isn't much traffic on the road but enough that he shouldn't be in the road so we stopped to help him on his way. He was a big one!  More than twice the size of the biggest one we used to have. Kind of made me miss our three little ones but no doubt they are happier in the Breard's pond than in our kitchen.

On the trail

I was going to go backwards and try to catch up but that was too much work. So here we are.

We have had Mata Hari, the new horse, 7.5 months now and we couldn't be happier with her progress considering how much down time we had this winter when it was so incredibly cold day after day. She has done fantastic with her dressage training and is going over low fences like a pro. We have taken her down the road and into unknown fields such as the one above. Never a spook. She really is something special!
