Master Bathroom Remodel

When I had the floors done with the laminate, they were supposed to do my master bath as well but couldn't cut it correctly around the tub.  I was sent back to Home Depot where I ordered a new vinyl product that is laid like ceramic tile with grout.

While waiting for the tile to come in, I tried to hurry up and paint the builder's grade wood cabinet.  You can also see the particle board flooring that was so endearing for the past few months!

It was a project but I'm so pleased with how it turned out!

The floor looks so "rich"!  Not sure I'm in love with the rugs but they'll do for now.

The cabinet turned out pretty sweet too! Got these little knobs on Amazon for a song.

There was a builders grade medicine cabinet on this wall with the stock, brown wood door.  I took the door off to paint it and decided I liked it better without it.  Filled the screw holes and painted it to match the wall.

It's impossible to get a whole picture of this room but to the right behind the door there is a full size walk in shower and over by the toilet there is a tall linen closet/cupboard.  THAT isn't painted yet but will be soon enough.  I ran out of paint!

A Little Kitchen Work

These pendant lights used to be recessed can lights over the kitchen sink.  Amazingly enough, these things just screw into the light bulb holes and VOILA you have pendant lights!  Super easy and relatively inexpensive.

I had every intention of replacing the kitchen sink myself. Bought the sink and faucet and watched videos.  And then I got down under there and called someone to do it.  He was good and had the whole thing done along with a new garbage disposal in about 2 hours. And thank goodness I did call because he had to cut a new opening to fit the sink, even though it was supposedly the exact same size as the old one.  I couldn't have done that!

The new one sure looks good!

The Details

I had been looking for a while for the perfect nightstand for my bedroom.  When I stumbled upon this little gem in a tiny store in Milford, I knew without even measuring that it was perfect!  It's hard to see in the picture but it has crystal knobs.

But as always, one thing leads to another and I needed a lamp  that "fit".  This one is crystal and silver and came from a resale shop for about 30% of the cost of the one I had bought at Homegoods and decided was too small - and that one was fairly cheap compared to other places!

I'm pretty proud of the fact that I have bought very few things for this house "new".  I did order my sofa last week and that will be new along with a TV stand/fire place.  I'm repurposing and buying used where I can though!

Horse Selfies

I'm taking care of horses this week while Madison is in Florida selling these beautiful yearlings:

Vince says, HELLO!  He's such a love bug!

He wanted to do a selfie with me to send to Madison.

Not to be outdone, Mata Hari wanted one too but not until we were done riding.  I had to do her 5 minute rehab ride. It took us 10 minutes to walk down to the arena all to ride at a walk for 5 minutes. Then another 10 minute walk back up.  We'll do it again tomorrow!

Summer, friends and neighbors

One of my favorite things to make in the summer with fresh tomatoes is bruschetta.  Just tomatoes, onion, basil and garlic with a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  Nothing says summer better!!

We've had some whacky weather in Michigan this summer but they sure haven't hurt the sunsets!

Some of my bestest friends have been my friends for a VERY long time.  One of them, a friend since kindergarten, brought me this huge zinnia plant as a housewarming gift.  LOVE it!  Those flowers are the deepest, brightest orange I've ever seen!

And I have some pretty amazing neighbor's, too.  One is from Brazil and wanted me to try this special Brazilian cut of beef. I didn't know she was bringing me a whole dinner!  It was delicious!

Teacups

I bought this little display cabinet at a flea market at least 6-8 months ago.  I really had no idea what I was going to use it for or do with it but I liked it.  I add a fresh coat of paint and scrubbed off some stains.  It looks nice on top of my dresser filled with my mom's and grandma's old tea cups!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm not big on nick knacks - I hate to dust.  But this works - they shouldn't get too dusty inside the cabinet!
